Do You Hear the People Sing?

I am such a useless blogger, I'm sorry! =( I will have some craftyness soon, I've been organising and re-organising my craft things so I haven't been doing nothing at all!

Nothing very interesting has happened recently so not a lot to report except that I have gained a new best friend in my housemates' cat, Mr Fluffy Bum, yes, that is his name. Don't ask. My housemates, Lee and Issi are on holiday in India until the end of the month so I'm looking after the cat and he now constantly sleeps on my bed, I'm sure he'll go back to sleeping on theirs when they get home.

Anywho, I went to see Les Miserables at the cinema yesterday with my Mum and Sister because we are all HUGE Les Mis fans. We fell in love with it after seeing the 10th anniversary concert on TV which is incredible, we also went to see the 25th anniversary concert at the O2 in London which was still amazing but not quite as good as the 10th. It was still great to be there because the atmosphere was brilliant and they brought on cast members from the 10th anniversary production, the theatres in London that it is still playing at and school kids who do 'Kids Mis' at school.
We were all a little bit worried about the film version because they never seem to get things quite right so we went in with low expectations; IT WAS AMAZING!! The cast, the staging, the adaptation were all perfect. Anne Hathaway as Fantine was incredible as was Eddie Redmayne as Marius, Anne Hathaway had everyone in tears every time she sang and Eddie Redmayne's 'Empty Chairs at Empty Tables' had us crying in seconds. Even Amanda Seyfried as older Cosette was really good even though she'd sounded a bit trilly in the trailers. Samantha Barks, who played Eponine in the 25th anniversary, was brilliant, so was Aaron Tveit as Enjolras.
Hugh Jackman and Russell Crowe were amazing too and I actually thought that Russell Crowe was better as Javert than Hugh Jackman was as Valjean.
The only thing that I didn't really like were Helena Bonham Carter and Sacha Baron Cohen as the Thenardiers, they didn't really seem to fit in as well as they could have. They were a bit...silly and I know they are meant to be comical but it didn't go with the rest of the film very well.
But, it was incredible and I was really impressed and we're going to see it again tonight! With lots of tissues!
